NEGLECT ON THE NEERU - CHETTU SCHEME

There is neglect on Neeru - chettu works in the district. The collector approved an amount of Rs 20.41 crores to take up 151 works through any water-tree scheme. Of these, 49 works worth Rs 4.21 crore were set up and only 16 works worth Rs 80 lakh were completed. 33 works are in different stages. The Water Resources Department reports that Rs 196 crore has been spent on completion of the works and the ongoing projects.four in Chittoor Mandal, eight in Devipatnam, six in Coimbatore, three in Nellipaka and two in Vararam Chandra Mandal. There are about 1,000 acres of land under the Project  in Yetapaka Mandal. This year the water has become available or about 300 acres of land. The farmers here have not been able to harvest crops. Even though the Government approved Rs 66.55 lakh for the development of this project, it has not yet begin work. The same situation exists in all zones in the agency. Most of the work carried out last year was the removal of mad plants. Not much attention is paid to structures and shrinkage.

There is a check in the Maredumilli Mandal and two checkpoints in the Rajavommangi mandal. Last year, the proposals were made on the need for an additional Rs 1,36 crore per annum for another 14 projects this year.
