Telangana officials have stopped the water release of the right canal of the Nagarjunasagar project. This led to a tense atmosphere at the project when the Andhrapradesh and Telangana state officials got into argument. With the allocation of 10.5 tmcs of water Krishna Board to Andhrapradesh, so far 10.2 tmcs were released to right canal by authorities. However, Andhra Pradesh officials alleged that Telangana officials were prevented from releasing another 0.3 tmcs water. The two states of police were deployed there without tensions. Now, Andhra and Telangana officials are in talks.

The Krishna River Authority has ordered to stop the recent release of water recently because Andhrapradesh is used more water than allocated water. The situation has become tense. The Krishna River Governance Board has informed that the Andhrapradesh government has decided not to use more water than the water it has decided. On the other hand, Telangana Government wrote to the Board that only a maximum of 0.56 tmcs is available to Andhrapradesh in the water above the minimum water level in Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar dams.
