Congress has decided to go for the Rajya Sabha elections. The decision was taken at the Congress Legislative Party meeting held on Friday evening in Assam. Congress party Incharge Ramchandra Kunthia, PCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy and the CLP leader Jana Reddy have been handed over to the party. Former MPs Azharuddin and Ravindra Nayak and PCC Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy are reported to be in the race. The meeting decided to seek the opposition to support its candidate. The Congress party will issue a whip to vote for its candidate in the Rajya Sabha polls. Six legislators from the Congress split the party and joined the TRS. These are technically considered members of Congress. These members also have to stick to Congress whip. Congress has decided to demand the Speaker to disqualify whip in the election. Though he had already complained to the speaker, he did not make any decision. Sampath, who was also a Congress MP, also approached the court to take action against the failed members. The court ordered the speaker to take action against them.
CONGRESS IN RAJYA SABHA ELECTIONS
Telugu Desam members have already complained to the speaker on the defective members. But the Speaker's office issued a statement saying that the TDLP merged into the TRS. That party challenged the Supreme Court. Currently the case is reported to the constitutional bench. If they do not vote for the party candidate in the election, they will immediately complain to the Speaker of Congress. Congress hopes that action should be taken against this. The Congress decided to contest the Rajya Sabha polls, even though it did not have enough numerical strength, to use it to politically damage the TRS. In the Assembly, however, numerically, these three seats are easily accessible to the TRS.
